Colombia has one of the largest Arab diaspora communities in Latin America. Lebanese, Syrian, and Palestinian families have been part of Colombian society for generations, and their presence in commerce, retail, and industry is significant.
In cities like Barranquilla, Bogotá, and Medellín, Arabic-speaking business owners and entrepreneurs are not a rarity.
Most Colombians around them have never learned a single word of Arabic.
Beyond the local diaspora, Arabic connects you to a region of 400 million people spanning the Middle East and North Africa — a set of economies that Colombia is increasingly trying to engage through trade agreements and diplomatic channels.
Sectors like energy, halal food exports, tourism, and international development all have meaningful Arabic-speaking counterparts. Professionals who can hold even a basic conversation in Arabic tend to be remembered in ways that English-only interactions rarely achieve.
There is also a growing demand for Arabic speakers in Colombia’s humanitarian and NGO sector, given the significant Syrian and Venezuelan migration patterns through the region.
Arabic has a reputation for being difficult, and parts of that reputation are earned. The script is new, the grammar is structured differently from Spanish, and the formal written language differs from spoken dialects.
Our approach starts with Modern Standard Arabic — the version used in professional, media, and educational contexts across the Arab world — and builds practical speaking skills from the earliest levels.
Courses run from A1.1 through B2.1. Group classes meet Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 7:00 pm Colombia time. Private 1-on-1 sessions offer full flexibility for those who prefer a faster or more personalised pace.
