Germany has been actively recruiting Colombian professionals for several years now, particularly in healthcare, tech, and engineering.
The SENA has run dedicated programs placing Colombian nurses and skilled workers in Germany with full scholarships — including language training from A1 to B2, paid relocation, and employment contracts.
The catch, as always, is the language. Without at least a B1 certificate, most of these pathways are simply closed.
Even if relocating is not on your radar, German carries weight in Colombia’s job market in ways that often go unnoticed.
German automotive, manufacturing, and pharmaceutical companies have a presence in the country, and professionals who can work directly with German-speaking counterparts — without going through translators or awkward English intermediaries — tend to stand out quickly.
German public universities charge minimal or zero tuition even for international students, which makes Germany one of the most genuinely accessible higher education destinations in the world.
Engineering, medicine, architecture, and technology programmes are particularly strong. Most require a B1 or B2 certificate for admission, so starting your German course now is the practical first step if this is something you are considering.
Group classes meet Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 7:00 pm Colombia time, covering 30 academic hours per level from A1.1 through B2.1.
Private 1-on-1 sessions are available with fully flexible scheduling for those who need to move faster or prepare for a specific exam or visa requirement.
